What is Kybella®?
The first injection of its kind, Kybella® is a prescription medication that is injected into the fatty tissues underneath your chin with a fine needle. Kybella® is formulated from deoxycholic acid, which is found naturally in the body and helps aid in the breakdown and absorption of fat. As part of this aesthetic treatment, deoxycholic acid permanently destroys the fat cells in your lower face and prevents them from storing or accumulating fat. This creates firmer, tighter contours underneath the chin with no disruption to your normal activities.
Am I a Good Candidate for Kybella®?
Healthy men and women who are experiencing moderate to severe excess fat underneath the chin and who have realistic treatment expectations tend to be the best candidates for this treatment, and these factors will be discussed during your consultation with our medical team.
Kybella® helps achieve fat reduction underneath the chin without invasive procedures, but it is not a weight loss solution or a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. Although the results of this treatment are permanent, significant weight fluctuations can potentially reverse the aesthetic achievements.
Are There Any Side Effects?
As deoxycholic acid is easily recognized and processed by the body, Kybella® is a low-risk treatment that rarely results in adverse reactions. Minor bruising, swelling, redness and itching can occur at injection sites, but these side effects typically subside after a day or two.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
Depending on the severity of your condition and your aesthetic goals, multiple treatments may be necessary in order to achieve the final result. During your consultation, these factors will be discussed and we will advise you on how many treatment sessions you may need as well as any additional safety information that may apply to you.
