The Oxford Dictionary declared the word “selfie” as the Word of the Year in 2013. No doubt the popular trend of taking self-portraits using a digital camera or, most commonly, with a camera phone has sparked the coining of this new word. These selfies are shared on Facebook, Twitter and other social networking sites.
With the prevalence of selfies, people are even more conscious about their appearance especially since a selfie can become viral and viewed by thousands of people around the world.
Who wouldn’t want to look their best?
According to the Business Insider, “Plastic surgeons in United States have seen a surge in demand for procedures ranging from eye-lid lifts to rhinoplasty, popularly known as a nose job, from patients seeking to improve their image in selfies and on social media.
A poll by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) of 2,700 of its members showed that one in three had seen an increase in requests for procedures due to patients being more aware of their image in social media. They noted a 10 percent rise in rhinoplasty in 2013 over 2012, a 7 percent jump in hair transplants and 6 percent increase in eyelid surgery.”
Fortunately, other alternatives exist to improve your image other than seeing a plastic surgeon. Anti-Aging and Skin Rejuvenation centers throughout the United States are increasingly adept at providing the most innovative, image enhancements in state-of-the art facilities.
Here are three ways you can quickly improve your selfie with no down time, little or no pain and see results in one day!
- Botox: Reduces moderate to severe facial lines e.g. between brows.
- Skin Resurfacing: For wrinkles around the eyes, crows feet, acne scars and age spots.
- Body Contouring: Thought selfies were just of the face? Contour your body with the latest technology and show up slimmer and shapelier.
So, if you are not quite happy with your selfie, there are many other skin rejuvenation and image enhancing treatments available. Consult with your aesthetician to find the right procedure that addresses your unique needs.
